A Nuptial Peek of the Week - May 27, 2001

It's Friday. Time for a Peek!

Our Friday feature - the Peek of the Week - is all about you! I want to hear (and share with my readers) what wowed you this week. It could be a cool finished project, a work in progress, a personal accomplishment, a cute kid moment, or something that surprised you.

If we could peek into your week - what would you want to show us?

Each week I'll share my Peek of the Week to get the ball rolling, and invite you to link to your own blog posts about your Peek of the Week. I know y'all are up to cool stuff - we wanna see it!

I have a very special Peek this week:

Today the fella and I celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.

I know. I know. You're wondering how it's possible for two people so young and spry to be married as long as 11 years.

Well, I'll tell ya. We were 12.
Okay, not really 12, but young.
It was a simply magical day that was full of all the love and celebration anyone could hope for (above photos by Peter Decker).

On last year's beach trip we celebrated our 10th anniversary with a sea side renup (photos below by Marc Stowe).
With the boys, sweet family and beloved friends around us, we renewed our decrees of love and dedication to each other. It was a beautiful day (click here to read more about the renup).
I'm a lucky gal.

Now it's your turn!
Here's how it works:
1. Each Friday I'll post my peek of the week, and give you space to link us up to yours.
2. Blog about your Peek of the Week - whatever it is. Whatever happened that made you proud, laugh, smile, inspired, excited, or just plain happy - now that's worth sharing.
3. Include a link to this blog or put the Peek of the Week button (on the sidebar) in your post.
4. Link your blog post using the InLinkz button below.
5. Visit some of the other linked posts to see what folks are glowing about this week.
Leave them some comment love and expect some to be coming your way.

If you don't get a chance to get here on Friday, feel free to link your post up later.
The InLinkz button will be active for 5 days.

Embracing Green

When the bleak of a long winter has turned everything dreary brown around here, I always begin to doubt that it'll ever get green again.

I'm happy to report that this spring has brought unprecedented gallons of rain and this dry dry place is as green as the fella's eyes. Maybe greener.

And we are full. on. embracing it.

Come back tomorrow for a very sweet Peek of the Week, eleven years in the making. And as a present to me in celebration of this milestone, you could write a post, fellow blogger, about what's been cool about your week, and link it up to the Peek of the Week linkup. Read here to get all the Peek of the Week deets.

Sending this post over to the Anderson Crew for Embrace the Camera.

You Know It's Hard Out There For A...

...Dragon.

I don't remember exactly where I picked up this little gem. I think I got it on consignment somewhere, maybe even before Eli was born. Before ELI was born. And I've never put it on either of them until today. Why was that?

The little dragon tail is the best. It wags when he walks. Priceless.
But being a dragon is hard work.
This little dragon gazed up from his sgetti with that look in his eye and declared, "I finissed," before passing out on his high chair tray.

Pobricito.

iAwesomeness

In the continuing effort to prepare for our upcoming beach trip and family visits, last night I whipped up this little bit of awesomeness:
Often when I get a wild hair about a project and compose a quick plan in my head and make it in a frenzy, it's a flop.

But this one flops not.

Now the boys can watch movies on the many multi-hour drives that are scheduled during our three week trip. Serenity NOW!

A word on the compact nature of the backseat of a Jeep wrangler. Well two words -
1) it's so slim back there they'll probably be able to reach the ipad to check emails and battle each other in angry birds on the trip.
2) wedging my big ol' bellied self back there with two car seats while installing the iAwesomeness was no small feat. Literally.

Fingers Crossed

Wish me luck. Thanks Boogie.
I'm not sure why little A stands at the front door with crossed fingers on a regular basis, but maybe today he's wishing me luck. After failing the one-hour glucose test (a pregnancy thing for testing for gestational diabetes), I'm going in this morning for the three-hour. Good times.

I know the multiple blood draws will be a pain, but honestly, I'm a little giddy that I will have three hours of forced alone time at the doctor's office. I'm not sure that's happened in the past three years. I'm hoping to finish my book from March. Two and a half months later but whatever.

So, wish me luck!

The Hats are In!

Thanks for your patience folks! There are now hats available in my etsy shop!

Don't see one you love? Have a specific color or theme in mind? I'll be happy to work up some custom designs! Just convo me and we'll get something going. Be quick though, if you don't get to me this week you'll have to wait til late June - have I mentioned we're going to the beach?

Some fun details:
~ all (except this first one) are reversible!
~ If the hat has a flower on it, that flower is a removable pin you can put on the flip side of the hat, your purse, sweater, or anything you want! Total bonus, right?

Totally fun, right?

Peek of the Week - May 20, 2011

Our Friday feature - the Peek of the Week - is all about you! I want to hear (and share with my readers) what wowed you this week. It could be a cool finished project, a work in progress, a personal accomplishment, a cute kid moment, or something that surprised you.

If we could peek into your week - what would you want to show us?

Each week I'll share my Peek of the Week to get the ball rolling, and invite you to link to your own blog posts about your Peek of the Week. I know y'all are up to cool stuff - we wanna see it!

Here's my peek:

Earlier this week while flipping through my favorite pattern books and being belly snuggled by baby A...
...I got inspired.

Piggy backing on last week's Peek, I went to sewing on some beach hats. For the whole family.

The boys were easy. Bulldozers, peddle cars, guitars and the entire cast of "Cars" and we were all set. The best part of Amos' hat is that when he wears the peddle cars side out and you ask him where Mater is, he looks up in his brim, goes cross eyed, points up and says, "white dare."

Then I got going on mine. But when I put it on all I could hear was, "Trust the Gorton's Fisherman."

So the fella had a genius idea.

Put a bird on it.
Ok, actually a flower. Don't see too many flowered hats on a fishing trawler do ya? Me thinks, no.

I made one for the fella too (and 5 others for the shop (soon)!). But we're both too tired to go upstairs to get it to take a photo. Later.

We'll be beaching it in 15 days! 15 days people!

Embracing the Bump

I know I already referred to Amos' happy place this week, but he has a couple. He's a happy kid.

One of them is the bump.

Me thinks he thinks I grew this big ol' bump on the front just so he's have a cozy place to pillow up to about 12 times a day. He spends lots of time there.

And even if that were the only benefit to this bump, it would've been totally worth it just for all the snuggles.
It does present a few challenges, like trying to belly up to my sewing table with this bump and that sweet little noggin betwixt Betty (my sewing machine) and me.

But this week it also gave me some inspiration. While flipping through some of my favorite pattern books and looking down at those gorgeous goldie locks, I knew just what my next project would be.

And I've made 4 of them, with 5 more cut and ready to be sewn. Curious? Check back here tomorrow for the Peek of the Week where my newest project (read: obsession) will be revealed. And you can share some of the fun stuff you've been up to. Read the skinny about that here, and come back tomorrow to check it out.

I'm linking this post up to the Anderson Crew blog for the Embrace the Camera feature. It's fun. Check that out too!

Stalked...

The lovely Aurora featured me on her blog, Fabric is Bliss, today.

In her post she tells of how she (super cool owner of an indy fabric shop)...stalked me (goofy home crafter and mama).

You can read about that here.

Baby Book

A special goody arrived on Friday. Lil' sis' sweet pink birdie baby book from Rag N' Bone Bindery made its way here. Big squeal.

I love the little collection of matching baby books that lives on our book shelves, filled with details of the most altering moments of our lives, and pictures of our fresh, squishy little babes. I can't wait to start filling in that sweet pink one.

Amos' Happy Place

Friday, when the bulldozers pulled up, this was the scene.

For about 2.7 minutes when the boys demanded to be loosed.

They could not contain their glee at this new development - Bulldozers delivered directly to their front door - check that off the toddler bucket list.

Poor Eli got to ogle and play for about 15 minutes before he had to leave for school, but Amos set up camp and spent the whole morning out there watching and digging.

This boys loves some dirt. Loves to dig in it, roll in it, and yes, eat it. So much so that I have repeatedly asked his pediatrician if he might have pica.

Wonder if lil' sis will have the same fascination with big yellow machines. If nurture has any part of it, she certainly will, because these boys will no doubt groom her to join their construction crew. We could get some serious stuff built around here with a crew like that.

I think we should start with a pool.
