Amos' Happy Place, Episode like, 12.

Seems like I should turn posts about Amos' Happy Place into a regular feature. It's hard to avoid, because that boy is full of joy. Talk about easy to please.

Homie loves anything yellow with wheels (or tracks). And they just keep showing up around here. The city has decided to repave everything in our neighborhood. And before that could happen the gas company had to dig under the streets to patch like 4 gas leaks on each block (Anybody else feel sketchy about that? No harm, no foul I spoze).

Can't go wrong with that boy and some sort of digger. Sleeps with 'em, plays with 'em, squeals in delight every time he sees one.

In fact, let me teach you his new favorite ditty we recently made up for him (to the tune of I'm a Little Teapot):
Amos loves bulldozers so so much.
Some have tracks, some have tires.
They all have a bucket or a scraper.
Amos loves them so so much.

Catchy right?

Now every night when I ask him want song he wants before bed, no more Lullaby. Bushel and a Peck be damned. It's "buhzuhah" song or bust.

Amos' Happy Place

Friday, when the bulldozers pulled up, this was the scene.

For about 2.7 minutes when the boys demanded to be loosed.

They could not contain their glee at this new development - Bulldozers delivered directly to their front door - check that off the toddler bucket list.

Poor Eli got to ogle and play for about 15 minutes before he had to leave for school, but Amos set up camp and spent the whole morning out there watching and digging.

This boys loves some dirt. Loves to dig in it, roll in it, and yes, eat it. So much so that I have repeatedly asked his pediatrician if he might have pica.

Wonder if lil' sis will have the same fascination with big yellow machines. If nurture has any part of it, she certainly will, because these boys will no doubt groom her to join their construction crew. We could get some serious stuff built around here with a crew like that.

I think we should start with a pool.

First and Last

Yesterday was sweet E's last day of school. (wipe two tears - one sentimental and one of panic).
My elder boy child has grown up so much this year. I guess that's no surprise, but geez, I'm shocked!

LinkHe looked like a little preppy skater boy yesterday in his new beachy shorts (compliments of me) and new shoes and shirt. I've never heard of getting a new outfit for the last day of school, but it was kinda fun. I smell a new tradition!
Oh - but even more fun was what pulled up while we were waiting to leave for school. Two bulldozers, a welder, a pipe drill, and a bunch of other stuff and about 8 men in hard hats arrived about 20 minutes before time to go.
The boys were beside themselves. Poor Eli had to leave the fun and not get too dirty, but Amos spent his entire day camped out in the front yard watching the machines and digging in the dirt.
The day was eventful and meaningful...and exhausting.

Bless his little big boy heart.

Big News x 2

Big news #1 - There's a bulldozer in our back yard.

All morning the boys have been perched on the dining room window watching it dig. Then we went to the zoo.
And when we got back, the workmen were at lunch, and the bulldozer and giant hole were left unattended.

Big News #2 - It's like 70 degrees here today.

We want spring. Bad.

Now the workmen are back and are filling up the fabulous hole. Eli's helping.

Big news #3 - we can flush our toilet again.
