This is Peek of the Week worthy but since it's only Tuesday and the polish is likely to wear by then, I give you an incidental monumental moment.
You see, it's here in my 485th (whoa) post that I can note and say with some certainty, I have had an original thought.
I'm clear on this platform...most of the ideas are not mine. I'm an excellent executor. You give me the idea, I'll make it so. I may even improve upon it. But usually the brains behind things here are the fella's, or Eli's, or Yaya's. They come from a book or a pattern, or let's face it...pintrest.
Yesterday I had one of my own.
I spent much of the day looking forward to a little self care evening which was to include situation comedy and a manicure. And then it came to me...
a tiny mustache on an index finger. So simple. So whimsical.
Trivial, yes. It's no cure for cancer, unless what they say is true and laughter is, in fact, the best medicine. But to me it's like a miracle. This ol' brain, she's still got some life in 'er.

Peek of the Week - February 3, 2012
What's Peek of the Week, you ask? It's our Friday feature and it's all about you! I want to hear (and share with my readers) what wowed you this week. It could be a cool finished project, a work in progress, a personal accomplishment, a cute kid moment, or something that surprised you.
If we could peek into your week - what would you want to show us?
Each week I'll share my own Peek of the Week to get the ball rolling, and invite you to link to your blog post about your Peek of the Week. I know y'all are up to cool stuff - we wanna see it!
My peek this week has a little of everything...
Crafting!
Sewing!
Costumes!
5 Minute Mania!
Pintrest!
Oh...and the cutest baby model west of the Mississip.
Two Syllables: Yum. Me.
So... like maybe 2 years or so ago I starting thinking about these little Seuss-y, jester, whimsical crowns. I put it on my "to make" board and there it sat. Words on a board.
Then, as is becoming my custom, I had a dream about it. I woke up, dragged sleepy Hazey to the sewing room and whipped that sucker up in a fit of 5 minute mania.
Then it was straight down to in front of the picture window for a photo shoot in the early morning sunlight.
And, thanks pintrest for this sliiiiightly cheesey photo idea. Good stuff.
Now You!
You could get peeking in three easy steps:
1. Blog about your Peek of the Week - whatever it is. Whatever happened that made you proud, laugh, smile, inspired, excited, or just plain happy - now that's worth sharing.
2. Include a link to this blog or put the Peek of the Week button (on the sidebar) in your post.
3. Link your blog post using the InLinkz button below.

Embracing the Bump
One of them is the bump.
Me thinks he thinks I grew this big ol' bump on the front just so he's have a cozy place to pillow up to about 12 times a day. He spends lots of time there.
And I've made 4 of them, with 5 more cut and ready to be sewn. Curious? Check back here tomorrow for the Peek of the Week where my newest project (read: obsession) will be revealed. And you can share some of the fun stuff you've been up to. Read the skinny about that here, and come back tomorrow to check it out.
I'm linking this post up to the Anderson Crew blog for the Embrace the Camera feature. It's fun. Check that out too!

Kids say the darndest things. This morning Eli called me into where he was playing because he was "caweening into a pile of stuffed animals!"
Where does he come up these things?!

Sensing a Theme
So far in March, just about every post has some admission to the fact that I am not the idea man around here.
This post is no exception.
This morning while trying painfully to have an original thought - I noticed a really good one from someone else. It was from another seamstress mama I follow - Amy - the very talented lady behind the adorable kids' clothing line, Brownie Goose.
This morning the BG facebook status said:
Um. Bingo.
I should mention that she's not doing it because she just had a baby like, this morning. Still making complete sentences would be impressive enough, but throwing good ideas in there...that's too much.
So, on this fine Fat Tuesday, I am going to take this inspiration and carry on this good idea. During Lent 10% from each sale will be donated to our local no-kill animal shelter.
So - I may not be the idea man. But that's ok. Because I have the good sense to follow advice, listen to the wisdom of others, and get inspired by other people's really great ideas.
And, most importantly, to give credit where it's due. Thanks Amy!

"very sad that this year i won't be doing the "40 days to help the strays" in which i donate money from all outfits made during lent to the no-kill animal shelter here."
(Aside:This our first baby, Big Wendell. Our 4 furry kiddos haven't gotten much (read: any) attention on this blog because they had to go live in foster care with the fella's mom while we play out our stint in student housing and get settled somewhere real. We miss you guys!)

Rock and Roll Confessions
Take the Cheese Wedge Onesie for example. The fella thought up that little gem as a gift for a family we know from Eli's class, to welcome their new baby. They're from Wisconsin. They serve the best cheese at their parties. The need a Cheese Wedge Onesie.
And he was right. They loved it. As did the dozens of other people who ordered it to celebrate the Packers being in the Super Bowl.
I can take no credit for that.
So, I simplified it down - headphones. Now that could work.
And did it ever.
I just added it to my shop - and if you're not digging the hot pink, you can rock out lots of colors and patterns, or suggest one of your own:
Pretty cool.
You can find it here.
Thanks smarty pantses for the great ideas. Keep 'em coming.

Inspired...
After I picked Diz up from preschool, he and Boog and I took a walk all over campus. Well - in all fairness - I took them on a walk to Ben and Jerrys. After that we meandered all over the campus near where we live.
When we were wrapping up, we came across these sassy little acorns.
So much personality!

I've never see acorns with fringed tops like this. They definitely got their winter hats on etsy.
I'm so inspired...but to do what with them?
Suggestions???
