Love and Pintrest.

This is turning into the week of Pintrest. There's just so much delightful stuff on there. And in the 4 days I've been using it I have been uber inspired, so...the Week of Pintrest.

Stuff like this...

Found this beautiful image - a great Valentine's Day photography idea - on Pintrest.
Pintrest is smart.

So today, when the Hazemeister zonked out on my lap, I went for it.
Once she was real warm and snuggled I gently brought her arms together and started working her fingers into a heart. Bless her little soul, she LOVES to hold hands, so she kept trying to hold my hand in her sleep. Melt. But eventually she made the little heart hands. Dreamy.

And my dear darling Amos came to snuggle with us. It was the sweetest.

 Oh. My. Word.
And the word is love.

I'm clutching my bosom. Who can resist with all this love around.

Moving this to the Saw it on Pintrest and Made It! board. That brings the total up to 4 (not counting the 3 other ideas I pursued today that I haven't even told you about yet). I may have to quit my job.

Sock Bun Update

Correction to yesterday's post: I have now mastered(ish) the Sock Bun I found on pinterest:

I wore it to work  yesterday and even had a few chances to tell some folks there was a sock in my hair. I'll never get tired of that.

So, pin that one to the Saw it on Pintrest and Made It!  board.

Danger. I got pintrested.

So... three days or so ago I succumbed to the call of Pintrest. I resisted a REALLY long time, but who are we kidding. As my sister said: "It was so made with you in mind it should have been called 'Jessa Decker Smith-interest'."

So I caved. And I have been pinning up a veritable storm of pins. Here's the twist, I fully intend to act on them. I even have a board called, DO THIS NOW. And I'm totally gonna.

So, on that note, I shall report to you here on this blog all the ideas I found on pintrest that I have decided to take on.

So, for my first one (ok, second if you count the sock bun, which I have tried but not yet mastered), I worked up a holder for a charging cell phone from Make It and Love It. It's downright genius and uses items I have on hand. Double bonus.
Above is the original pinned photo which links to a tutorial for this very smart idea. Way to go Make it Love it folks. Well done.

And here's mine:
Pretty awesome! It was my first mod podge experience and I must say, I enjoyed it.

So much so that I went ahead and made on for Hazel's baby monitor:
It was so easy and fun and it took about 30 minutes total. That's my kind of project. (And yes, I decoupaged the fabric backwards on this second one, with the seam ending up in the front. Live and learn).

And now, to feed two birds with one scone, I tested out a second pintrest idea whilst I was making the above. It was a home-made inexpensive mod podge recipe. I bought name brand mod podge and made my own per this recipe to compare.
Do It Yourself Divas offered a very simple recipe for DIY mod podge - 50% Elmers, 50% water. I think I had too much water in my ratio, but I gotta say, I think the mod podge has a leg up on the homemade version. The homemade will definitely work, but I think mod was slightly better.

So now I have a Pintrest Board called "Saw it on Pintrest and Made it" to show all the inspiration I've gotten from pintrest and followed.

I'm hooked.

Valentine's Dance

...but the IS yo' Mama's Flash Mob.

So, I've been dancing around (pun intended) this topic for a while now. I keep mentioning the dancing and alluding to information that is forthcoming. So I guess it's time for it to come forth.

I had a dream. And, holy smokes, I'm just realizing now literally as I'm typing this, that I had it on Dr. Martin Luther King Day. No joke.

I digress.

Anyhoo - I literally woke up on MLK morning with the complete vision of a flash mob. And since it was my New Year's resolution to be in one, I paid attention. Every detail was laid out in the dream. It was Valentine's Day. It was at Mellow Mushroom. It involved pizza dough tossers. It was to the tune from the opening of the Muppet Movie, "Life's a Happy Song." And I was to choreograph and organize it. And it's happening.

If you're in the Denver area and you want a piece of this, check out the full details, including a training video for the dance here (you can also click on the Valentine's Day tab at the top of the page under the header photo).

So, for google's sake and to summarize,
Valentine's Day 2012 Dance Flash Mob in Denver. Be there.

This week I have for your peeking pleasure...I give you Hazel in her Happily Home Sewn Mushroom Pinafore. Man I love a pinafore and boy does she wear them well.

LadyFest 2012

Alrighty...as promised...a full report on the wonder that is LadyFest. This weekend was the 2nd annual (except we skipped 2011 for some strange reason - won't happen again) LadyFest. LadyFest is just what it sounds like - a trip to a different location each year with a bunch of my besties for festing, merriment, joviality, crafting, lounging, laughing, dancing (more on this later) and catching up. And it is awesome.

LadyFest 2010 was in Chattanooga and this year we converged on Pigeon Forge, TN (a wonder in its own right) in a beautiful cabin on a mountainside. It was an ideal setting.
Sunny B, our resident Embroidery Diva, whipped up a super sweet tote bag for a member of the Pigtail Gang.

Friday morning, LadyFest 2012: Lounging, sewing, magazines, studying (poor Jodie), fire, coffee, cocoa, munchies, embroidering, Adele concert DVD, sing-a-long, pinafore modeling (by Hazel), pjs till way past noon, a run (what?) and...wait for it....the hot tub.
Hazel had a never ending stream of snugglers, lucky girl. Oooo, and we made t-shirts (and a onesie) for the occasion! Thanks CustomInk!
Knitting and sitting. I'm pretty sure it's about 1:00 a.m. Here. That's some dedication.

And Hazel got a new hat (and pretty much a new wardrobe. Outlet malls...dangerous!).

Thank you ladies for an amaaaaazing Fest!!! Can't wait 'til next year!

I am super excited about my peek today.

It's my first ever Happily Home Sewn garment made for me!

I used Amy Butler's tunic pattern and some gawgeous fabric from Fabric Bliss and oh my wordy word I am in love.
The pattern also included instructions for the fabulous flower brooch. Delish!
Hazel likes it too. I may or may not (ok...I did) have made her a matching pinafore with matching pin while I was at LadyFest. Photos forthcoming.

Ok! Your turn!

Embracing LadyFest

 Rockin' the LadyFest Wear.
Today I'm enjoying my ladies at LadyFest, but I went ahead and pre-loaded a blog post for Embrace the Camera because I haven't done it in a few weeks. And well, it's kinda fun.
So a few quick peeks at my bubbies and me.

Make sure to come back tomorrow because I have a very excellent Peek of the Week. Get excited.

Enjoy.
