"Eli, why do you like to jump?"

"Dis cause Mommy."

Rude Awakening

I can admit it. The new camera has made me insufferable.

I'm sure the boys are growing to dread when it comes out.

But some things are just too cute to pass up.

Big E has taken to sleeping in Little A's crib. It's still in his room from the "The Boys Sleep Together" experiment. Every night or nap we tuck him into his race car bed with all his pillows and blankets and toys of the moment. And sometime mid-slumber he transfers all that stuff to the crib and climbs in. Necessary sleep time accouterments: pillow pet, Harry Elephante, blanket, shovel.

I totally deserve that look.

Now he has pillow pet hair. Delicious.

The Wind Blew Us Inside Today

We had high hopes of taking a break from the frenzy of sewing to have a picnic at the little playground today. Then Diz noticed how windy it is. He hates wind. It sends him into a panic about things flying away. He wants me to hold or stand on everything in sight to make sure it doesn't fly away. Hats, papers, toys, Boogie. He's not soothed by the reasoning that some things are too heavy to fly away. He doesn't buy it.

So we stayed inside today, and to keep ourselves entertained we played in the Pack'n'Play Fort.

And conveniently the boys got an interactive Halloween card from my Mom.
That gave us a good half hour of jack-o-lantern brotherly fun.

Long Time Coming...

I have wanted to be Rosie the Riveter for a looooooong time. Something has always come up and it hasn't worked out (which is a shame because this one time for a camp skit I was going to be her and dance All the Single Ladies with two other friends who were also dressed as single women from history. I have no historical proof that Rosie was single, nor that she wore red cowgirl boots, but I'm sure both are true).

But for the Community House Halloween Party at the Fella's school Friday night, I rocked her:And I was wearing the boots. Well, one red cowgirl boot and one orthopedic boot - but it worked.

Dizzle's New Do

Yesterday during our Saturday Morning Wonder Walk we dropped in at Floyd's Barbershop to get Dizzy's mop cut.

Before:
His favorite barber Sandy was free so the time was right. We love Sandy. Eli flirts it up with her. I lost count of how many times he giggled to her, "Sandy! Dat tickles!" Getting his haircut used to be a grudge match (with all the big-head medical stuff he had in his first two years - he wasn't so keen on people messing with his melon). But Sandy has the touch. She has total job security because we will never stray from her.

Pretty stinkin' handsome.

In other news, I'm getting better at this photography stuff. I took all these shots in manual mode, setting the exposure triangle (that's right) myself and I think they look great. And when I asked picasa to auto-correct them, it didn't change a thing! Google approves!

Saturday Morning Wonder Walk

This morning the fella and I took the boys wandering. We climbed, crunched leaves, picked apples, played football, got a haircut and some coffee, visited a friend, and collected buckeyes. An abundance of merriment was had by all. And all in our "back yard."

The perfect fall walk destination would have been a Saturday football game on campus. Sadly the school on whose campus we live doesn't have a football team. Lame. Who can I talk to about remedying this?

Boogie's on the mend. He's not 100% yet, but he's getting there. Hooray!

Jack-O-Clementines

Sent the feller to the grocery on his way home from work last night to get something for snack for Dizzle's class tomorrow. He came home with a bag of clementines and a very clever idea.

He suggested we take our clementines from this:

To this!:

A little vinyl decal, and a little snip snip, and viola! Jack-O-Clementines!

This is nothing new. The fella is definitely the idea man around here.

Sick Break

Took a day or two off from blogging. Boogie's been in the pits.

He's been spending a lot of time like this:
Making this face (p.s. - that posture is very flattering for me):

And lounging here:

And here:
After talking myself out of it for days, I finally broke down and emailed his doctor (I'm an over-emailer - I try not to be a pest-y patient, but sometimes I cave). He has the most random collection of mini-symptoms. But they said to bring him in and it seems the root of his problem is constipation and an inflamed belly button. See? Random.

But hopefully he's on the mend.
Be better soon Boog.

Eli's Me Doll Was All About Me

Last week Eli was sent home from preschool with homework:
We were to work together to make this plain paper doll into an Eli doll. Sunday Eli and I set to work making his me. He was only marginally interested, but I dove right in. Big surprise.

I sewed him little cords...
...pockets and all.

And a cars shirt. Clearly.

Striking resemblance I think.

Eli helped me figure out how to make and where to put his features. We talked about numbers of things and how things looked and how everybody's eyes, ears, nose, etc. look different. Which I think was the point.
We even gave his tiny persona the tiniest car we could find to play with.

And this morning Eric took Diz and Mini Diz to school and they were both welcomed with rave enthusiasm.

Then about 10:00 this morning, long after he left for school, I realized what he was wearing:

That's right. Twinsies.

Carving Time!

Finally got around to carving the pumpkins.

I love carving pumpkins. The fella hates it. But, as he explained to Dizzle while we were carving, "Someday you'll do something you don't like just to make the one you love happy." What a guy.

Boogie was a bit leery of the whole process.

I love the fella for playing along when I want to get festive. But I hate him a little because he always cranks his out in about 4 minutes, and his is always the coolest. Punk.

I always over-think and over-plan my design, then I'm disappointed when it doesn't work out and I have to cut off half the fox's face just to make it look like something. Alas.

But the process was so fun. Eric talked to Eli about what he wanted his jack-o-lantern's nose, eyes, mouth, etc. to look like, and then carved it for him. Again. What a guy.
