Broken Foot, The Final Chapter. I hope.

Today was my appointment with the orthopedist...finally. I know it's only been a week, but being laid up, only for that short time, was not my happy place. It doesn't help that we were held captive in this teeny third floor walk up student apartment. We got serious cabin fever. Plus, I couldn't do the stress relievers I rely on - walks and standing at my sewing table being crafty.

So, I was ready to get the scoldy-scold from Dr. ShameOnYou. In fact, when the nurse called my name, before she even took me back to get my vitals, she asked with a snarl, "Have you stayed off it?"

Um....not so much.

I was ready at best to get my cast, and at worst...surgery?

So...the before:

And....the after!:

No cast! And permission to shuck the crutches and, "Do what feels right." Hallelujah. Despite my denial, he reports that it is broken, but that this type of break heals well. And the fact that I have very little pain is a good sign that I am healing well. So I am allowed to put weight on it as feels comfortable, and I can use the boot as long as I want, which I expect will be a few more weeks. Me and my boot have bonded.

Plus he liked my tattoo. All the medical scientist types were intrigued by it. But this guy pondered it and asked one very good question, and he figured it out.

Can you??? (If you know, don't spoil it).

  1. Is that a permanent tattoo? (Did he ask if you were a potter?!)

So glad it turned out to be the best case scenario!

  2. Mama V - Yes and yes. He nailed it.

I have three tattoos that I designed to look like henna, but they are permanent. I love them.

  3. I was about to say, "I know! I know!," but V stole my thunder- smarty pants! Glad to hear that things are progressing with the healing. Here's to a quick recovery.
