Peek of the Week - March 18, 2011

It's Friday! Peek of the Week Day!

Our new Friday feature - the Peek of the Week - is all about you. I want to hear (and share with my readers) what wowed you this week. It could be a cool finished project, a work in progress, a personal accomplishment, a cute kid moment, or something that surprised you.

If we could peek into your week - what would you want to show us?

I'll start because there is something HUGE I've been waiting all week to show you! Happily Home Sewn has a new home!
A few weeks ago, this lovely lady, Aurora, contacted me. She had seen my goodies on etsy and had a proposition for me.

She was soon to open a fabulous new fabric store in the Santa Fe Arts District. The store would have the sweetest fabrics and softest fibers for sale, and would offer classes in the sewing studio and knitting lounge. And...a boutique! And she wants my work in it!

Look at all those yummy fabrics (some of which I have already purchased (see?))

And, oh the fibers. Yards and yards and yards of yarns.

Oh, and me! More specifically, my Happily Home Sewn wares. The lovely Aurora asked if I would like to sell HHS in her new shop, Fabric Bliss, which had its grand opening this Tuesday!

I am so excited to have HHS in its first brick and mortar store! If you're nearby you simply MUST visit Fabric Bliss. Go for the fabrics and the yarn. Go for the fabulous handmade goodies (most by local artists and crafters) in the boutique. Don't sew or knit? Go for the classes or private lessons and let your obsession begin. Go talk to Aurora who is knowledgeable, helpful, and just plain lovely and whose journey to fabric store owner is super inspiring. Just go.

Alright dearies - that's my Peek of the Week. Now it's your turn!

Here's how it works:
1. Each Friday I'll post my peek of the week, and give you space to link us up to yours.
2. Blog about your Peek of the Week - whatever it is. Whatever happened that made you proud, laugh, smile, inspired, excited, or just plain happy - now that's worth sharing.
3. Include a link to this blog or put the Peek of the Week button (on the sidebar) in your post.
4. Link your blog post using the InLinkz button below.
5. Visit some of the other linked posts to see what folks are glowing about this week.
Leave them some comment love and expect some to be coming your way.

If you don't get a chance to get here on Friday, feel free to link your post up later.

Embrace the Matchy Matchy

I really like the consistency of having a standard Thursday theme. So, once again it's time for Embrace the Camera, the Thursday feature from the Anderson Crew!

I did a little digging for this one, but it was worth a walk down memory lane.

Last February I took a pajama pants making class. It was great fun and there was literally no one I didn't make pajama pants for. Aren't yours super cute and comfy?

I even made fabulous matching ones for the boys and me! Swirly ones with winky owls!

Even the beloved Harry Elephante got a pair. Of course.

The fella got jealous (ok, that's a lie) so I made matching pairs for him and the boys too! Much manlier - with peace signs and dinosaurs.

How long do you think I should expect that my boys will wear matching clothes with me? You'd think that ship had sailed by now, but Dizzy still chooses his owl pjs and loves it when we wear the same ones. Now that is love.

And don't forget to come back tomorrow with your Peek of the Week! To learn what that is and how to participate, read all about it and come back tomorrow to tell us what you've been up to! I've got big news to share in my Peek tomorrow! Come back and see!

Mama Needs a New Pair of Shoes...

Screw that. Mama needs the new Amy Butler purse pattern book and some fabulous new fabrics.

And, while we're at it, Mama needs that purse on the cover, made out of those fabulous new fabrics. Amos and I have been frequenting a new hot spot. Every day this week in fact. Much much more on this later, but for now suffice it to say that, that this place has all of the above things that Mama needs, 'cept shoes but I think it's only a matter of time.

Yum yumma yum.

I'm super excited. Where oh where to begin?!
Well I think I'll just begin at the beginning. I'ma start with this little peach - okay, big peach. It's the first pattern in the book. I have visited my local copyplex (library) and shrunken it to 80%, since I don't think I'll be needing to carry all three of my children in it.

Can't wait to show you my finished product! I smell a Peek of the Week!

Above Average

Yesterday at the park I overheard some women talking. One asked the other, "So, when is your due date?" The other replied, "September 14." A mere month after mine.

She had nary a bump.

And I have this:
It could be that it's my third pregnancy and these abdominal muscles have long since given up the ghost. It could be that me my short stature gives her few other places to go. But whatever the cause, my 4.5 month baby bump is more like a baby basketball.

But no complaints here. I want her little house to feel spacious and homey. I hope all these little kicks and wiggles are her way of saying she digs her crib.

Don't Tell OSHA

Yaya discovered a magical trick.

Tools needed:
Foaming Window Cleaner
The ability to write backwards doesn't hurt.
Draw pictures and write their names on this oh-so-accessible picture window, and the boys will actually beg to clean it.

Is this wrong? I think, no. They have fun, they learn letters, my window gets clean. Win. Win. Win.

And it doesn't hurt that it tires them out. Well - that and the REI trip, the birthday party, and the no-nap day. He crashed about 10 minutes after painting time with Yaya - hence the painting shirt.

From there to his bed and not a peep til morning.

Look What I Found

I just went in to spring Mr. No-Napper, and this is what I found:

He's played all through his nap. His lights are on. Toys are strewn about.

I guess those snugly critters finally got the best of him.

It's 5:10 p.m.
Those saucer eyes are always a little open while he sleeps. When he was a baby and fell asleep in the stroller, it would freak people out how open his eyes were. I think it's cool.

Peek of the Week - March 11, 11

It's that time again!

I have a special peek for you this week. It's a cheek peek!

Dizzy has a special affinity for the outdoors and for the freedom of being a boy. Please don't be offended if he comes to your house to play in your yard and asks you where your potty tree is. It's such a simple pleasure. Why fight it?

Now it's your turn.
